Tricuspid stenosis x ray

A chest X-ray maybe not helpful in the diagnosis tricuspid stenosis but it is a useful tool to identify the concurrent conditions such as dyspnea caused by concomitant valve disease.

• A chest X-ray may be helpful in estimating the cardiac size which may range from normal to enlarged.

• Right atrial enlargement may be prominent but it is non-specific.
• Left atrial enlargement may be present.
• Pulmonary edema is evident in some cases.
• A straight left heart border is evident in some cases.

• Findings specific to a particular associated congenital heart disease may also be seen.
• Looped atrial or ventricular leads may be seen on chest X-ray especially in patients with tricuspid stenosis which are caused by endocardial pacemaker leads and it is a rare entity.
